Nintendo Fusion Tour
Fall Out Boy, The Starting Line, Motion City Soundtrack, Boys Night Out, Panic at the Disco
Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence, RI
November 22, 2005

Panic at the Disco opened the show to many, many girls screaming. After hearing those high pitched, ear piercing screams, I was dreading what noise Fall Out Boy would bring. They only played five songs, but they sounded decently catchy-Fall Out Boy with electronics. Members of the already twice mentioned Fall Out Boy came out during their first song and basically molested Panic at the Disco, which was a funny spectacle to witness.

Another laughable moment came when I was walking to my seat. I was walking by a father sitting his not much older than six year old daughter when Panic at the Disco's singer asked if people liked talking about sex. The look on the father's face made me chuckle out loud, though the girl didn't seem to notice what was just said.

Boys Night Out hit the stage playing "I Got Punched in the Face for Sticking My Nose in Someone Else's Business." Their set was incredibly energetic with Connor Lovat-Fraser constantly running around the stage like a lunatic on too much speed. They received a good reaction from the crowd, though not as good as the one Panic at the Disco got, which was disappointing because Boys Night Out was the best band of the night, made even better by their cover of "Daneurysm."

Motion City Soundtrack is a hell of a lot of fun to listen to, and their live show is no different. They also have people in their band who look like celebrities. Their drummer, who was sporting a mullet, reminded mee of George Michael, and their keyboard player looked like the kid who played Banks in "The Mighty Ducks" trilogy.

I especially like how matter of fack and geeky Motion City Soundtrack are, especially the singer. His vocals sometimes sound like a one ended conversation, which I really like. The band had a lot of energy on stage, especially the actor/hockey star look alike keyboard player. The crowd was really into them, screaming as loud as they could as often as they could. Motion City Soundtrack sounded like a traveling geek party, but it was such a damn good time.

The Starting Line was boring as all crap adn they were sporting (except for the drummer) horrible "we are cool because we have crazy looking" haircuts. I have no tolerance for people who think they are cool because their hair is stupid. I want everyone guilty of this to realize that you are NOT fucking cool.

I will compliment the drummer of The Starting Line, whose snare drum had a really tight sound. They should have just let him play snare drum for about 45 minutes. I would have enjoyed that so much more.

Believe it or not, the near sell out crowd went nuts when Fall Out Boy took the stage. Their set was divided up into two acts to avoid a "rockstar encore" (which I will argue that they did, just halfway through their set instead of at the end). They came out sporting all white and spent most of their set running around the stage like a track team, flipping their guitars and jumping like the stage was an oversized trampoline. These guys must have incredible cardio, as they barely a note without going crazy.

Not to be outdone by members of Motion City Soundtrack's ability to look like famous people, the drummer of Fall Out Boy (you could argue that they are already celebrities, but stay with me for a moment) looks uncannily like Michael Showalter from "Wet Hot American Summer" (among other projects).

Fall Out Boy played with a lot of energy and passion, but I learned that I'm not a fan of their new material, which makes me glad that I never bought From Under a Cork Tree. With the exception of "Sugar, We're Going Down," (in which they had everyone in the audience yell out who they fantasized about-which was pretty creepy) and "Dance, Dance," I was really bored during their new songs. The songs they played from Take This to Your Grave were a good time, though they neglected to play "Dead On Arrival." They also played two old songs that I found to be pretty awesome, meaning that I may check out their earlier releases.
