Fear Before the March of Flames, Bear vs. Shark, Since by Man, The Fall of Troy
The Living Room in Providence, RI
October 29, 2005

The Fall of Troy kicked the show off to a huge band from the loving audience. The kids in the crowd seemed super stoked to be there and had a large cheer of approval at the start of every new song. This was one of the warmest receptions that I've ever seen an opener get.

I think The Fall of Troy sound better live than on record. These three dudes (four if you count the guy hiding behind the bass amp adding some sounds) had a monster sound, especially in the guitars. Guitarist Thomas Erak was showign off at times, standing in front of the crowd and ripping tons of solos, but the kid fucking slays, so it was cool to watch.

Since by Man is a very impressive live band. Sam Macon has an endless amount of energy and flies all over the stage. Their sound was tight and the guitarist nailed their parts that I love oh so much.

I was so excited about seeing Bear vs. Shark, as I love their material and wanted to see how they sounded in a live setting. I was not disappointed at all as they tore through their set with the emotion and sincerity I was hoping for. Vocalist Marc Paffi, who looked like a lumberjack, would play the keyboard with one hand and sing with his mic in his other hand. They also had a guitarist and the keyboarist of Fear Before the March of Flames add some shaker parts during some songs. I expect Bear vs. Shark to explode soon (an Against Me! kind of explosion).

A lot of people left after Bear vs. Shark, but the ones who stayed behind loved what they heard. I think they sounded decent, but they had a tough act to follow, adn they didn't quite live up (in their defense, I don't think many bands would have topped Bear vs. Shark). They had a lot of energy and seemed to have a good time playing, even though the crowd had become noticably smaller.
