Bane, Strike Anywhere, A Global Threat, This is Hell
The Living Room in Providence, RI
October 30, 2006

After killing time for nearly an hour and a half, I happily made my way into the show. Its been nearly a year and a halfsince I last saw Bane and about a month and a half since I last saw Strike Anywhere, but I was still equally excited to see both of them.

This is Hell kicked off the show while I was outside interviewing Strike Anywhere. I could hear them decently well for being so far away (about 100 yards). Though I'm sure they sounded better in the club, they still made for some good background music.

A Global Threat seemed to play forever, although they didn't play much longer than a half hour (if that). I wasn't that into them at all, even though they sounded better than when I saw them back in September. I spent most of their set enjoying the Patriots game and waiting for them to finish so Strike Anywhere could take the stage.

Strike Anywhere was unsurprisingly awesome, bring the relatively packed crowd into a frenzy with their political punk anthems. I've come to the conclusion that Strike Anywhere has never played a bad set in their lives. Their energy was unstoppable, and the crowd fed off that energy like a homeless child at a buffet. They played a good mixtured of old and new songs, including "You're Fired," "Laughter in a Police State," "Sunset On 32nd Street," "Amplify," and "Sedition," among others. Each song they played featured a lot of fist pumping, finger pointing and sing alonging (as well as good timing).

A few people left after Strike Anywhere played, but not all that many. Bane set up pretty quickly, and then blasted through one of the best sets that I have ever seen them play. The crowd went nuts from the first notes of "What Makes Us Strong," and they didn't stop at all. Bane fed off the energy of the crowd, and there was a lot of it. The crowd was a non stop mosh pit, a true "vintage Bane" show, which vocalist Aaron Bedard stated after playing "Give Blood." Their 13 song set was one that people in attendence will be talking about for a long time. I really wish I had a camera to videotape the show, as it truly was something special.
