The Juliana Theory, Love Drug, Days Away, The Goodwill
September 9, 2005
The Living Room in Providence, RI

The Goodwill opened the show with bad jokes and a homoerotic stage presence. The singer's moves looked more like a stripper than someone in a rock band. He had these really odd looking sways; one which he kept doing about 30 seconds after the song was over.

The small crowd, much like me, didn't seem to have much energy. The singer asked how the crowd was doing, and he barely got a response. Mostly girls were close tot he stage, which I'm sure made the band happy.

The music didn't do much for me. Some songs were pretty good, but I'd say that they're an average band at best. Their drummer was pretty damn good, easily the most fun member of the band to watch.

Days Away played a really tight set. Their blend of hippie jam band indie rock sounded incredible live. I enjoy their drummer's 80s styled hair, as well as the bassist's receeding afro. I normally hate afros, but I've never seen one on a receeding hairline before. That alone made it awesome, as was Days Away.

I only half ass paid attention to Love Drug, but I really liked what I heard. Their piano rock indie style was really impressive. This is a band that I hope to check out more in the future.

We only got to watch about half of The Juliana Theory's set because Sarah had to leave, and me being her ride, I had to take her. They played a really strong set that left me quite impressed. Now is the time to admit that I'm writing this review (I wrote the more detailed parts at the show) a week later and can't remember much except that I enjoyed myself and singer Brett Detar looked like an evil super villian on stage. Damn this short memory.

This tour is very worth checking out if it comes to your town. The line up was really good, with three of the four bands being amazing live.
