'A Simple Favor' Trailer: Anna Kendrick And Blake Lively Star In A Film From The "Darker Side" Of Paul Feig

What comes to mind when you think about director Paul Feig? For many of us, we probably think about “Bridesmaids” and for others, it may be “Ghostbusters.” Either way, Feig it is easy to think about light-hearted comedic gold when you think of Feig’s work. Today he has come to flip your perception upside down.

When the 90-second teaser trailer for “A Simple Favor” dropped earlier this month, we stated we were reminded of a young Serena van der Woodsen, with Lively looking stylish, making martinis, and charming all her friends. In this trailer, however, we see that glamorous and sparkly image has been replaced with a much darker side. The newest trailer for “A Simple Favor,” Feig brings us a much darker and more thrilling preview.

This trailer, which features images of police officers, cop cars, guns, people crying, and knives as the stems of martini glasses and heel of stilettos, doesn’t offer us any more information to what happened to Emily Nelson. But instead of questions such as “Did she dye her hair? Did she take her martini’s with her? Is this a ‘Gossip Girl‘ season 1, episode 16 moment?” we are left asking the more serious questions. “What is Emily mixed up in? Is she a victim or a master con-artist? Is she alive? And most importantly, what is this favor she asks of Stephanie and what repercussions will Stephanie face?”

The film focuses on Stephanie (Anna Kendrick), a video blogger who embarks on a mission to find out what happened to her best friend Emily (Blake Lively) after her strange disappearance in their small town. Along the way, Stephanie finds herself ensnared in a bizarre mystery full of deceit and death.

“A Simple Favor” will be hitting theatres on September 14. Make sure you’re there to find out the story behind Emily’s disappearance.
