Laszlo NemesVisiting the horrors of the Holocaust with his multiple Cannes award winner, and Oscar contending drama "Son Of Saul," director Laszlo Nemes isn’t done exploring the trauma of wartime. The filmmaker is lining up his next effort, and this time he’s going back to World War I, taking a different look at how it affected those caught in its sweep.

Screen Daily reports that Nemes has landed grant money to help fund his next picture, "Sunset." The film will be set in Budapest in the lead-up to World War I.

“It’s a coming-of-age story, also a thriller, the story of a young woman in Budapest. It takes place in a very important moment, before the First World War and before civilisation starts going into the darkness,” the director told the trade, adding, “[The Nazis] killed all of that. The 20th century transformed Hungary into an ethnically pure country in a way.”

No word yet on when production might begin, but the wheels are firmly in motion, and if Oscar nominations follow for "Son Of Saul," I can only imagine that more backers will want to be involved with what Nemes is cooking up next.
