Sony's Silver Sable & The Black Cat Movie Lands Director

Marvel Studios still stands as the most organized of the cinematic universe studios, but Sony (who they’re teaming up with on this summer’s “Spider-Man: Homecoming“) is coming in hot on their heels. They’ve already landed Tom Hardy for next year’s “Venom,” and now their Silver Sable and the Black Cat movie is heating up.

Gina Prince-Bythewood has been tapped to helm the female-driven superhero flick, which will be titled simply, “Silver And Black.” While perhaps best known as the filmmaker behind “The Secret Life Of Bees” and “Beyond The Lights,” Prince-Bythewood has recently completed the pilot for Marvel’s Freeform series “Cloak & Dagger,” and I would presume her work impressed the right people.

Things are still coming together with the director set to take her pen to the current draft of the script by Christopher Yost (“Thor: The Dark World“), but we’re likely to start hearing about casting and all that fun stuff soon, as production is aiming to get underway this fall. Tell us your dream casting for this one in the comment section. [THR/Deadline]
