The report states that Lee has brought on actors Clarke Peters (“The Wire”), Isiah Whitlock Jr. (“BlacKkKlansman”), Norm Lewis (“Sex And The City 2”), Mélanie Thierry (“The Zero Theorem”) and Jasper Pääkkönen (“BlacKkKlansman”) to join the already-great cast for his film. “Da 5 Bloods” follows a group of African-American Vietnam vets that return to the Asian country to find the remains of their fallen friend, and also investigate the location of some buried treasure. As with many of the biggest upcoming projects, “Da 5 Bloods” comes courtesy of Netflix.

Lee is coming off his first-ever Oscar win for his previous film “BlacKkKlansman,” so all eyes are on the iconic filmmaker and his next project. And with a cast like the one he has put together, including a great mixture of awesome character actors, seasoned vets, and an A-lister like Boseman, it would seem like “Da 5 Bloods” is poised to be yet another strong entry for Lee.

The real question is about how Netflix handles the distribution of the film. With the streaming service loosening its rules on exclusive theatrical runs, especially for films that feature A-list talent, we could be looking at “Da 5 Bloods” as a potential awards contender. Plus, with Lee and Netflix having such a strong relationship, as the filmmaker has previous TV and film projects with the streaming service, it would seem like this film could be one of their marquee titles coming up.
