If you’re a “Star Wars” fan, Orlando, Florida, is the center of the galaxy for the next four days, and the biggest fan event for the series — Star Wars Celebration — kicked off today. First on the schedule was a panel celebrating the 40th anniversary of the series, and surprise guests were plentiful — George Lucas! Harrison Ford! However, the tears really flowed when it came time to pay tribute to the late Carrie Fisher.
Towards the end of the event, a lovely, five-minute tribute to Fisher was screened, preceded by memories from the cast and a great speech by her daughter Billie Lourd. And it’s a great look back on Fisher’s work in the “Star Wars” films, the personality that made Princess Leia shine, and the irreplaceable spirit that touched everyone around here. And after it was all done, John Williams appeared with an orchestra to play “Princess Leia’s Theme.”
Meanwhile, here’s a quick first look at General Organa on the set of Rian Johnson‘s “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.”
