Rian Johnson Confirms 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' Runtime

We’re less than thirty days away from “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” and as per usual, the story details are being kept under lock and key. All we know is that, for all his brooding, Mark Hamill won’t be Evil Luke Skywalker. However, it looks like the upcoming film will be the most epic “Star Wars” adventure yet.

It’s been rumored for a while now, but director Rian Johnson has confirmed that “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” runs 2 hours and 30 minutes (including credits). Yep, that makes it officially the longest movie in the franchise ever. It beats the current title holder, George Lucas‘ “Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones,” which runs 142 minutes long. The director confirmed the intel at a press conference for the movie, attended by the French branch of IGN.

While everyone seems to be obsessed with runtimes lately, it should be noted, that it really has no bearing on the movie. Good stories are told in the time necessary — long or short. If anything, you’ll definitely get maximum bang for your 3D buck (hey Disney, what does someone have to do to see ‘The Last Jedi’ in 2D?).

I know, it’s not exactly huge ‘The Last Jedi’ news, but we’ll all take what we can get as we patiently await December 15th.
