'Starred Up' Director David Mackenzie Now Shooting 'Comancheria' With Chris Pine, Ben Foster, And Jeff Bridges

Chris Pine, Ben Foster, And Jeff BridgesYou may have heard about this one already, but for whatever reason it passed by our attention when it was first announced earlier this spring. We had wondered what "Starred Up" director David Mackenzie would be doing next following his terrific, critically acclaimed prison drama. The answer is: a heist flick. Yes, please.

Screen Daily reveals that production has started on "Comancheria." Penned by "Sicario" writer Taylor Sheridan, whose script wound up on the 2012 Black List, the film stars Chris Pine, Ben Foster, and Jeff Bridges. The story follows two brothers, one an ex-con and the other a divorced father of two kids, who are facing the foreclosure of their family’s West Texas farm. They team for a skillfully-calculated bank robbing spree that puts them on a collision course with two Texas Rangers determined to take them down.

This blend of material and talent sounds like potentially terrific stuff, so we’re eager to see how it’ll turn out. Keep your eyes peeled on 2016.
