Depending on who you ask, Frank Darabont‘s “The Mist” is either a stone-cold classic Stephen King adaptation, or it left room for improvement. Well, if you’re in the latter camp, the new TV series based on the author’s story not only takes a new crack at bringing it to life, but it expands the tale and brings it to some intriguing new places.
Starring Morgan Spector, Alyssa Sutherland, Gus Birney, Danica Curcic, Okezie Morro, Luke Cosgrove, Darren Pettie, Russell Posner, Dan Butler, Isiah Whitlock Jr. and Frances Conroy, “The Mist” is set in a small town already dealing with the aftermath of a brutal crime, when the titular weather arrives and increases the tension. Even more, while King’s story unfolds in a supermarket, the series adds more locations where things will be hard to see. Here’s the official synopsis:
Based on a story by Stephen King, THE MIST has been re-imagined for television by Executive Producer and Writer Christian Torpe and produced for Spike by TWC-Dimension Television. Spike’s THE MIST centers around a small town family that is torn apart by a brutal crime. As they deal with the fallout an eerie mist rolls in, suddenly cutting them off from the rest of the world, and in some cases, each other. Family, friends and adversaries become strange bedfellows, battling the mysterious mist and its threats, fighting to maintain morality and sanity as the rules of society break down.
“The Mist” debuts on Spike TV on June 22nd.
