Steve Jablonsky To Score 'Deepwater Horizon' Starring Mark Wahlberg

As explosive as the trailers for Peter Berg’s “Deepwater Horizon” appear, the soundtrack seems to be gearing towards a more intimate and moving tone. The film, which centers around the infamously disastrous BP oil spill and rig explosion, is set to come out September 30th. In the meantime, you can catch the film’s soundtrack that Warner Bros. Records will release on September 23rd.

Gary Clark Jr. headlines with “Take Me Down,” the original song that he co-produced with Mark Corben for the film. You may remember Clark from his fiery medleys of blues, soul, and rock, and his critical success from albums such as The Story Of Sonny Boy Slim and Blak And Blu. But while he takes a more soft and melodic approach with this single, Clark still retains an authenticity and New Orleans influence integral to his style. In the track, Clark sings all vocal parts and plays multiple instruments- including an electric slide guitar and a harmonica- and the band that accompanies him on tour is featured as well. Steve Jabinosky, who has worked on “Lone Survivor”and the “Transformers” films, will also bring his talents to “Deepwater Horizon” with his full score featuring original compositions.

Stay tuned for “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on October 6th, where Clark will give a performance of “Take Me Down.” The single will also be available digitally here starting September 9.
