Stream Jon Brion's "Lady Bird Kiss" From 'Lady Bird' [Exclusive]

Currently sitting with a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score, and enjoying one of the most successful arthouse release of the year, “Lady Bird” is flying high. The directorial debut by Greta Gerwig features no shortage of talent on all sides of the camera, including a cast led by Saorise Ronan, and featuring Laurie Metcalf, Tracy Letts, Lucas Hedges, and Timothée Chalamet. However, another secret ingredient to the film’s winning charm is the soundtrack by Jon Brion.

Known for his signature musical touch on scores for Paul Thomas Anderson’s “Magnolia” and “Punch-Drunk Love,” Michel Gondry’s “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” and Charlie Kaufman’s “Synecdoche, New York,” Brion once again works his magic here. In this exclusive stream of “Lady Bird Kiss,” you can hear the delicate touch he brings to the film, which centers around Christine “Lady Bird” McPherson, who fights against but is exactly like her wildly loving, deeply opinionated and strong-willed mom, a nurse working tirelessly to keep her family afloat after Lady Bird’s father loses his job.

“Jon Brion is my all-time favorite musician/composer/producer, and working with him was a dream come true. It is an old-fashioned movie score with melody, which is exactly what I had hoped for. I didn’t want the score to feel like background or ambience, I wanted it to be very present and structured, in the foreground of the storytelling,” Gerwig said.

Lakeshore Records will release “Lady Bird—Original Motion Picture Soundtrack” digitally on November 17th with CD and vinyl version to follow. The film is now playing in limited release.
