'Terriers' Movie Teased By Show Producers Ted Griffin & Shawn Ryan

Among the terrific shows that audiences have feasted upon during the era of peak TV, FX‘s “Terriers” seemed to be just slightly ahead of its time. Critically acclaimed as it was, audiences didn’t tune into the drama about an ex-cop and ex-con who start a P.I. business, and the show was canceled after one season. But it didn’t take long to gain minor mythical status and cult fave recognition (we called it one of the The 25 Best TV Dramas Since “The Sopranos), but even so, hopes of it ever returning seemed long since dashed. However, the peak TV era has also seen no shortage of revivals, and “Terriers” could be on the docket.

Speaking at the ATX Festival this weekend, show producers Ted Griffin and Shawn Ryan teased that “Terriers” could be returning. “We may have investigated [a revival],” Griffin said. “I think we would like to make a movie. And I think we have the idea sort of what we’d want to do, we just need to clear it with Fox.”

“There’s a couple of things we’d have to clear. Fox has the rights. This is the kind of show where I feel like if [stars] Donal [Logue] and Mikey [Raymond-James] were up to it and Ted had the story he wanted to tell this is the world we would definitely revisit, given the opportunity,” Ryan added.

Basically, it sounds like an idea being tossed, maybe even at official levels, but there are still a few hurdles to clear for this to possibly happen. But these days, it’s hard to rule anything out when shows like “Full House” are being given fresh life.
