Tony Gilroy Is Leading The Post-Production Of 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' Too

Warner Bros. isn’t the only studio dealing with production woes on a big-budget picture. Though they impressively tried to switch up the narrative at Star Wars Celebration Europe with a big fan-friendly presentation, “Rouge One: A Star Wars Story” still seems to have a few extra hands in the mix. Earlier this week, if not quite confirmed (Disney is staying mum on all of this), more voices emerged noting that Tony Gilroy was effectively directing the ‘Rogue One’ reshoots, taking over from Gareth Edwards on the five weeks of additional photography. And it looks like his leadership position is carrying over as the movie heads into editing.

THR is reporting that Gilroy is essentially leading the post-production process on ‘Rogue One.’ This is not a new role for Gilroy, who also stepped in to help Edwards in a similar manner on “Godzilla,” and apparently, the director is still active and providing his input during the editing phase which the ‘Bourne’ veteran is “supervising” (which is what we originally reported in the first place). Nonetheless, in what is easily his most high-profile movie ever, it can’t sit on Edwards’ shoulders too comfortably to have someone else put their hands on the wheel. But apparently, everyone is “working together.”

As we learned with “Suicide Squad,” there is always much more to the story, and I can only imagine we’ll find out more about what actually went on as the film’s release date draws closer.

“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” opens on December 16th.
