'One Percent More Humid' Trailer With Juno Temple & Julia Garner

From the renowned writer-director of the not-good 2013 Kristen Bell vehicle “The Lifeguard” comes “One Percent More Humid.” With a stacked cast including Juno Temple, Julia Garner, Alessandro NivolaMamoudou Athie, and Maggie Siff, “One Percent More Humid” could be interesting. Although reactions from its Tribeca Film Festival premiere were far from glowing, the film did pick up a Best Actor trophy for Nivola’s turn.

Garner and Athie are fascinating actors, and that alone might well make this onewell  worth watching. Garner has been phenomenal in weird under-the radar things like “Electrick Children” and “Grandma” and, most recently, Netflix’s “Ozark.” She’s never not fun to watch. My only previous exposure to Athie was in “Patti Cake$,” a movie in which he plays a character named “Basterd the Antichrist.” He’s terrific in that, but his performance is so strange and out-there that I truly am curious to see him in a normal, non-Basterd the Antichrist role. (“Patti Cake$” is unreal good; it comes out this weekend, go see it). Anyhoo, here’s the official synopsis for “One Percent More Humid.”

ONE PERCENT MORE HUMID is a coming-of-age story about friendship and grief. Catherine (Julia Garner) and Iris (Juno Temple), childhood friends returning home to a hot & humid New England summer, fill their days & nights with parties, skinny-dipping and rekindling old relationships, but when a shared trauma from their past becomes increasingly difficult to suppress, a wedge between the two grows and each begin to pursue forbidden love affairs.

The film will be available digitally via Sony Pictures starting on October 10th.
