Today’s youth might only know Tupac Shakur in hologram form, but now they’ll get a chance to appreciate the hip-hop legend in a new biopic, which dramatizes the vivid life of the icon before his life was taken too soon in Las Vegas.
Newcomer Demetrius Shipp Jr. takes the role of Tupac Shakur in the film, which positions the rapper as a revolutionary who aimed not just to create music, but start a movement. Here’s the official synopsis:
ALL EYEZ ON ME chronicles the life and legacy of Tupac Shakur, including his rise to superstardom as a hip hop artist, actor, poet and activist, as well as his imprisonment and prolific, controversial time at Death Row Records. Against insurmountable odds, Shakur rose to become a cultural icon whose career and persona both continue to grow long after his passing.
Co-starring Danai Gurira, Kat Graham, Dominic Santana, Jamal Woolard, Keith Robinson, Lauren Cohan, and Hill Harper, “All Eyez On Me” opens on June 16th.
