Two-Part 'Twin Peaks: The Return' Finale [Podcast]

Welcome to another edition of The Playlist Podcast, a discussion about film news and other film and television related items.

On this episode, I’m joined by Playlist Editor-in-Chief Rodrigo Perez to unpack the two-part finale to David Lynch and Mark Frost‘s sprawling epic, “Twin Peaks: The Return.”

You will hear very quickly by the pauses and hesitations in our voices that the amount of time from when the episode aired to the recording of this episode was still not enough time. We usually try and keep this podcast short (20-30 minutes), but at almost an hour of discussion, we still feel that we didn’t even scratch the surface of this massive achievement that transcends television, film, and any form of traditional storytelling. We go through each major plot point in the final two episodes (and while it’s hard to completely spoil Lynch’s work, we technically do get into ***FULL-ON SPOILERS*** for those concerned), give our theories on what it means in the grand scheme of things, how it relates back to the original series and the 1992 film “Fire Walk With Me,” and express our hopes that Lynch is just as reinvigorated with his work again as we are, and that he continues to make more films (or television) on the heels of this successful return to the iconic Pacific Northwestern town.
