Two Clips From Mike Mills' TIFF Film 'Beginners' Starring Ewan McGregor and Christopher Plummer

Two new clips have surfaced for the Mike Mills father/son drama “Beginners,” which premiered this weekend at the Toronto International Film Festival. The plot follows Christopher Plummer’s character, a 71-year-old man that comes out of the closet, which triggers his son, played by Ewan McGregor, to explore the honesty of his own relationships.

Mills’s debut feature, “Thumbsucker,” is a funny and endearing picture about awkward adolescence and growing up. If these clips are any indication, it seems like the director is following the same tone with his sophomore film with a tad more raw emotion. There are few reviews for the film but a positive one from HitFix states that that there are “sublime performances delivered by Ewan McGregor, Melanie Laurent [and] Christopher Plummer,” and positively likens it to his peers “Spike Jonze, Sofia Coppola and Miranda July.” We’re excited for this one, check out the clips after the jump.
