Ving Rhames Not So Impossibly Returns For 'Mission: Impossible IV'

Ving Rhames has confirmed that he will be returning to reprise his role as Luther Stickell in “Mission: Impossible IV,” maintaining the previous film’s complex interpersonal relationships and narrative layers.

The film, which will find Tom Cruise taking scale pay, is set to begin production in September and depending on who you ask the film is either the last gasp by an actor trying to salvage his career or just another entry into a boring franchise film that will make a bajillion dollars no matter who you get to play Ethan Hunt. Or somewhere in between.

Simon Pegg was previously reported to be returning to the series as well, but was a bit more cagey when asked about it at Comic Con. The J.J. Abrams produced film will be directed by Brad Bird and will hit theaters on December 16, 2011.
