Against Me!-"Don't Lose Touch"/"From Her Lips to God's Ears"
Fat

These two singles were pretty close to impossible to find at local record stores, so I jumped at the chance to pick them up the last time I saw Against Me! live. These are two different twelve inch vinyl singles featuring the first two singles off of Searching for a Former Clarity. Included are B-side dance remixes that I guess could make way for some ass shaking for a totally different scene. The "Don't Lose Touch" remix, done by Mouse on Mars, is very dancy, pretty much keeping the vocals the same but taking the music and making it electronic, sounding like Tom Gabel is being backed up by a bunch of robots. I like this version (though not as much as the album version), and I'm a big fan of the industrial feel and different electronic sounds that Mouse on Mars used to create his version of the song. He keeps the dance part at the end going a little too long for my taste, but I don't dance.

Adrock's version of "From Her Lips to God's Ears" is unique (though I'm not familiar with remixes of songs), keeping Gabel's vocals but changing the music to make everything sound flat and incomplete. Listening to this mix, especially with the lack of guitars and bass, feels really empty. Its as if Adrock took all of the soul out of this song. On the bright side, the album version sounds amazing on vinyl, making this single quite worth it.

These singles are collector's items that die hard fans of Against Me! should consider owning, especially since they are inexpensive. The remixes will make for good club songs, but I highly doubt I will ever be at a dance club long enough to hear one of these songs played.
