Defiance, Ohio-The Great Depression
No Idea
May 23, 2006

Recently, punk rock has learned to wear many hats. People are experimenting with different styles, sounds and intruments all under that punk rock parachute. Some of these experiments work, some fail miserably, and others catch on so much that they have now become the equivalent of a joke. Defiance, Ohio do their own thing, experiment with different instruments, and play some really cool sounding music.

They mix punk, folk, country and melodic music, combine them with an upright bass, harmonica, violin and banjo and let all six members sing, which makes for a pretty good time. Whether they're rocking out to a dixie like country tune ("The New World Order") or just rocking out to a standard (sort of) punk tune ("Enough"), something cool is coming out of the stereo. Defiance, Ohio are still a little rough around the edges, but they have an amazing amount of potential, and enough talent to make The Great Depression a welcomed addition to any music collection.
