Down to Nothing-Higher Learning
Revelation
July 25, 2006
Revelation Records are really making good strides at bringing hardcore back to the masses, and this EP by Down to Nothing is the latest example. Down to Nothing bring elements of youth crew and fast DC hardcore to their sound, but stretch outside the lines a little bit, especially with the ska riffing breakdown (distorted though) and bass grooves of "Alright Already." Parts of their songs remind me of something the Bad Brains would write, as it is quite innovative and may be considered ahead of its time (if anything these days can be considered that) years down the line.
At only three songs long, one of those being a Four Walls Falling cover ("Burn It!"), this serves as a great sampling of whats to come on their upcoming full length. This teaser EP served its purpose of making people interested in checking this band out.
