Fake Problems have an uncanny knack for writing songs that can be somewhat outside of their genre while not sounding pretentious and still sounding like Fake Problems. How many folk soaked punk rock bands can feature a drum solo that sounds as part of the song as a chorus? Not many.
The three songs on here lean a little more towards the punk country side of things, with a focus more on the punk. Chris Farren's voice stays pretty docile and even, saving his energetic and louder singing for special moments to beef things up. His lyrics are very interesting, and I love the way he sings, putting Fake Problems over the top. The band stays in the background enough to let Farren's voice shine, although individual band members have their moments (Sean Stevenson's drum solo may be one of the best recorded moments of 2008).
I'm not sure if this is just a holdover or the reason why they released a 7" in this day and age, but the three songs on here are strong as can be, written for many repeated listens. I also think its cool that their 7" has a hidden track, something I haven't heard in a long time. I'm again eagerly awaiting more material from this still up and coming but not for long band.
