Watch: 16-Minute Video Essay Makes The Case For Why Superhero Movies Suck

Guardians Of The GalaxyBetween February and May of this year, four superhero movies will have been released: "Deadpool," "Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice," "Captain America: Civil War," and "X-Men: Apocalypse." That’s a lot of multi-million dollar mayhem even for the most die hard of fans, but there’s at least one person who is simply fed up with the genre entirely.

The appropriately named YouTube user I Hate Everything has put together an epic 16-minute take down of superhero movies. The video makes some strong points, such as Marvel‘s tendency to sign their actors for multiple movies takes the stakes out of the movies (we know Ant-Man isn’t going to die, and is probably going to be in a few more movies down the road). And he calls out their template driven filmmaking, and dull obedience to fan service, rather than crafting films that have some kind of artistic merit (rightfully pointing that the musical scores in particular have been particularly forgettable). Moreover, he adds that ultimately, Marvel movies just don’t have much staying power — anyone rewatch "Thor" recently? "Iron Man 2"?

But DC isn’t spared either, with the overly serious tone called out for being perhaps a bit too much, especially when it comes time tackle characters like The Flash and Aquaman. Do those movies really need to be gritty? And then there’s WB’s rush to cinemas in general, which seems to have been hastily and poorly planned.
