Watch: Adam Sandler Wears Life Changing Shoes In First Trailer For 'The Cobbler'

The CobblerIt hasn’t been a great year for Adam Sandler. His comedy "Blended" opened in third place and barely made back its budget domestically, and his attempts at drama were not well received. Despite a fine turn in Jason Reitman‘s "Men, Women & Children," the internet panic movie had one of the worst wide release expansions of the year, and his team up with Thomas McCarthy for the fantastical "The Cobbler" was met with scorching reviews at TIFF (read ours). But the first trailer for the latter has landed, and you get a sense of what it delivers.

Featuring Steve Buscemi, Melonie Diaz, Method Man, and Ellen Barkin, the story follows a lowly, lonely cobbler who one day discovers that when he uses a magic stitching machine, and steps into the shoes he repairs, he takes on the identity of the people they belong to. This leads to comic hijinks, life lessons, and a subplot involving gentrification that never really makes any sense. It’s frankly a bit of mess, and trying anything they can to sell this movie, the trailer gives up the massive cameo by Dustin Hoffman that involves a major plot twist.

Image Entertainment will release "The Cobbler," though no date has been set yet. Watch below.
