Watch: Ben Affleck Calculates Thrills In First Trailer For 'The Accountant'

Just when it seemed like Ben Affleck was in full career comeback, he’s on the ropes a bit thanks to “Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice.” The poor reception to the blockbuster apparently surprised Affleck, who became the subject of his own meme, but perhaps this fall’s “The Accountant” will find him back on track, even with a title that would inspire nobody to buy a ticket.

Directed by Gavin O’Connor (“Warrior,” “Jane Got A Gun“) and co-starring Anna Kendrick and J.K. Simmons, Affleck plays a brilliant number cruncher who works for organized crime, but with the feds closing in, he takes a straight gig at a robotics company as cover. But danger isn’t far behind. Here’s the official synopsis:

Christian Wolff (Affleck) is a math savant with more affinity for numbers than people.  Behind the cover of a small-town CPA office, he works as a freelance accountant for some of the world’s most dangerous criminal organizations.  With the Treasury Department’s Crime Enforcement Division, run by Ray King (J.K. Simmons), starting to close in, Christian takes on a legitimate client: a state-of-the-art robotics company where an accounting clerk (Anna Kendrick) has discovered a discrepancy involving millions of dollars.  But as Christian uncooks the books and gets closer to the truth, it is the body count that starts to rise.

“The Accountant” opens on October 14th. Watch the new trailer above.
