At one point, it seemed like Tom Hooper‘s "The Danish Girl" was going to be a major Oscar player. Then the reviews came in and it seemed like the movie like just be an awards season play for Eddie Redmayne, but as it stands, even the actor is far from a lock for the drama, but Focus Features is still going for gold.

Co-starring Alicia Vikander, the drama tells the true story of Lili Elbe and Gerda Wegener, and how their relationship is tested when Lili undergoes a groundbreaking gender reassignment procedure. It’s another role that allows Redmayne to truly transform (no pun intended), but whether the movie around him works is another question.
