Watch: First Trailer For 'The Girl On The Train' Starring Emily Blunt, Rebecca Ferguson & Justin Theroux

The Girl On the TrainIt feels like only now, after a decade in the limelight, that Emily Blunt is finally getting the credit she deserves. The actress continues to be great in everything, and wider audiences are finally catching on, with this week’s "The Huntsman: Winter’s War" providing her with one of her biggest gigs to date, in another example of a movie that she’s elevated with her presence.

That said, Blunt has still never been Oscar nominated, but that could well change this year with "The Girl On The Train," the adaptation of the best-selling thriller. The trailer that debuted this morning (via Den Of Geek) certainly suggests she’s going to be part of the awards conversation. Based on Paula Hawkins‘ best-selling novel, this thriller sees Blunt play an alcoholic woman who becomes embroiled in the disappearance of a young woman that her ex-husband employed, with Justin Theroux, Rebecca Ferguson, Haley Bennett, Edgar Ramirez, Allison Janney and Luke Evans all involved.

"The Help" director Tate Taylor is the man in charge, and it looks like he’s doing a decent job with this, with a moody vibe that’s reminiscent of, but distinct from, "Gone Girl" (which the book also drew comparisons with), as well as a certain brand of 90s thriller. Could this be the next big literary-based box office hit? We’ll find out when the film hits on October 7th. Watch the trailer below.
