Watch: Footage From "Sick," Unreleased Marilyn Manson Video, Directed By Eli Roth & Featuring Lana Del Rey

Eli Roth Lana Del ReyIn the 1990s, if you wanted to piss off your uptight parents, or make a statement in your conservative suburb, you saved up your allowance and paper route money and became a Marilyn Manson fan. His pop industrial schtick, button-pushing visuals, and abrasive music were an easy target for those looking to point out the moral decline of youth, but an objective look would realize he was mostly pretty harmless. He spoke to teenage angst, and made millions from it. But it seems the already pretty dated alterna-rock star still has something up his sleeve to offend….if it ever officially sees the light of day.

In 2013, "Hostel" filmmaker Eli Roth got behind the camera and directed an unspecified video project for Manson, featuring Lana Del Rey, and some of it has made its way online. "The footage is so sick, it has been locked in a vault for over a year," Roth told Larry King a year ago, in October. And he’s not kidding. A central sequence features a "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" t-shirt clad Del Rey being brutally sexually assaulted (by what looks to be Roth himself), while the rest of the footage features your standard Manson weirdness and oddities.

And while there is no official reason why the video has remained so far unreleased, we’d hazard a guess that Del Rey’s camp probably isn’t too happy with it. But perhaps the strangest thing is, when asked by King about the role of sexual abuse in horror films, Roth said it was "a crazy question," and one he couldn’t answer. But given the current climate with high profile scandals surrounding CBC‘s Jian Ghomeshi, and Bill Cosby, it’s a query that Roth and everyone else needs to perhaps consider with more seriousness. Check out the video and King interview below. [Pitchfork]

Update: Representatives for Manson tell Pitchfork, "Manson did not direct this, shoot it, nor was it for a Marilyn Manson video or outtake footage made by him or to be used by him with his music," said Manson’s representative, Kathryn Frazier of Biz3. "It must be a fan video splicing up old Manson video footage with someone else’s Lana Del Rey footage." Gawker notes the non-Del Rey footage is part of his 2013 video for "No Reflection." See below.
