Watch Lena Dunham’s First Post-‘Girls’ Project With New Music Video For Bleachers

If we feel a bit bereft after the (excellent) conclusion of “Girls” a few weeks back, we can only imagine how Lena Dunham must feel. The polymath put six years of blood, sweat and tears into the show (with co-showrunner Jenni Konner), and got as many brickbats as plaudits from certain (mostly shitty) corners of the internet, but even so, she must have a bit of a post-partum feeling now that her show has come to an end.

Though she has lots on the go, including a Lenny Letter tour and, potentially, another HBO show in the 1960s feminism comedy Max” starring Zoe Kazan (though no word’s been heard on that for a year, so we assume the network might have passed on that?), Dunham hasn’t confirmed a new film or TV project yet. But as a sort of palate-cleanser, she’s just directed her first post-“Girls” project in the shape of a video for her partner Jack Antonoff’s band Bleachers.

The wedding-themed video for “Don’t Take The Money” also features “Search Party” star Alia Shawkat (and a surprisingly decent acting turn by Antonoff) to score the band’s ’80s-revival pop, taken from their new record “Gone Now,” which is out June 2nd. It’s a fun clip — a definite stylistic break from “Girls” — and you can watch it below.
