Watch: New NSFW Trailer For Mathieu Almaric’s Cannes Entry ‘La Chambre Bleue'

La Chambre Bleue

A longtime presence on the arthouse scene (“Jimmy P.,” “Venus in Fur”) with occasional ventures into the mainstream (“Quantum of Solace”), actor Mathieu Almaric managed in 2010 to take Cannes by storm, winning Best Director and a FIPRESCI prize for his film “Tournée.” An accomplished if uneven work, it nonetheless proved a promising indication for projects to come, and now we’ve got a new look at Almaric’s return Cannes entry.

Last month we showed you the NSFW teaser for “La Chambre Bleue,” which traded heavily on a seductive vibe tinged with menace, and now a full trailer has arrived to reveal a wider context. Following an affair between characters played by Almaric and actress Léa Drucker that devolves into violence and betrayal, the Georges Simenon adaptation promises to be an intimate, sensory thriller with gorgeous cinematography to boot, so consider us eager as Almaric’s latest premieres in Un Certain Regard this month.

Watch the full trailer below, and if you’re intrigued enough to catch a flight to France, “La Chambre Bleue” opens there in theatres on May 16th.
