Maybe the machines have taken over and we just don’t know it yet. But either A24 is very excited that "Ex Machina" is going wide this weekend, or Ava has infected all of the systems and her grand scheme of evil amounts to advertising this movie. Either way, a new red band trailer is here to remind you that there are more options this weekend other than a superhero blockbuster flick or a lame-brained buddy comedy.
Alex Garland‘s sci-fi directorial debut follows dorky Domhnall Gleeson who is summoned to the superswank estate of his uber-wealthy tech boss Oscar Issac to check out this latest invention: oh, just a fully functioning AI who looks and sounds a lot like Alicia Vikander, no big deal. But it in fact becomes a big deal.
