Watch: 'Pacific Rim' Gag Reel Proves Guillermo Del Toro's Monster Movie Was At Least Fun To Make

Whether you thought Guillermo Del Toro‘s “Pacific Rim” was the most original blockbuster of the year (until you saw “Gravity“) or a hodgepodge of the director’s genre faves that didn’t really step outside the clichés of the summer spectacle, there is no doubt that it was a massive undertaking. And while a highly technical, VFX driven movie can sometimes make for a set that is serious and focused on getting it right, especially with the large amounts of studio money on the line, most sets aren’t run by del Toro.

The folks over at io9 have stumbled across a gag reel for the movie—presumably from the upcoming home video release—and it’s a little montage of light-hearted moments during the making of the movie. Charlie Hunnam, Ron Perlman, Rinko Kikuchi, Clifton Collins Jr. and more all feature, while we also get Charlie Day trying out different ad libs and not being as annoying as he is in the final film. It’s breezy enough stuff and a treat for fans, so give it a whirl below.

“Pacific Rim” arrives on DVD and Blu-ray on October 15th.
