Watch A Tense Stand-Off With George Clooney & Julia Roberts In New Clip From 'Money Monster'

It’s been flying under the radar compared to some of the big May movies, but as it gets closer, we’re getting more and more excited about “Money Monster,” the Jodie Foster-directed thriller which opens next week. The fourth movie from the actor-director (who’s been honing her craft with episodes of “House Of Cards” and “Orange Is The New Black” recently), the film’s the kind of grown-up drama we don’t get enough of in the summer months.

George Clooney stars as a Jim Cramer-style financial TV host who is held hostage live on TV by a young man (Jack O’Connell) who says he lost his life savings after a bad tip, while Julia Roberts plays Clooney’s producer. We’ve seen a few snippets of footage already, but Entertainment Weekly just debuted the most significant look at the movie so far, which shows a tense moment as Giancarlo Esposito’s police chief tries to move on the hostage taker.

Dominic West, Catriona Balfe and Christopher Denham also star in the film, and though the summer movie season is just getting underway, if it lives up to its “Network”/“Dog Day Afternoon”-ish promise, it could be a real respite from the explosion-heavy competition. Take a look below, stay tuned for our review from Cannes next week, and you can see the film when it opens on May 13th.
