Yorgos Lanthimos & Colin Farrell Reteam For New Amazon Series

If Colin Farrell and Yorgos Lanthimos are the new Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese, that’s just fine by us. The duo already paired on the excellent “The Lobster,” and have “The Killing Of A Sacred Deer” coming up (and rumored for a splashy Cannes Film Festival premiere). Now they’re cooking up a third collaboration, but one that will take them to the small screen instead.

Variety reveals that Farrell will star, and Lanthimos will direct a developing Amazon series based on Oliver North and the Iran-Contra affair. Enzo Mileti and Scott Wilson are working on the scripts, which Lanthimos will also put a pen to, with Ben Stiller and his Red Hour Films among the producers. That’s some great talent involved, and an outsider perspective on what is a still somewhat recent and controversial moment in American politics could prove fascinating.

No word yet on when the limited series might roll, but it’s still being written, so it could be a bit of a way off. I’d presume he’ll turn to his period drama “The Favorite” next, but he’s also got the AMC series On Becoming A God In Central Florida,” starring Kirsten Dunst, brewing as well.
