Man, i’m just impressed that you’d watch something you didn’t like AGAIN so soon afterwards. I have to let my memory trick me into revisiting movies I didn’t like on first watch. You’re a bigger person than me!

Speaking of the costuming, My experience watching the performance was kind of dissonant. I was affected by the performance…and also letting out little giggles about how frumpy and nutty professor-like, he was. I felt it too!

You know what? You’re right. It was a good performance. I rewatched it, went through my list of things I might replace it with and only Robert Pattison really came close… and my reservations about tic filled performances applies to his as well. The tics and hair and costuming weren’t a crutch and were vital to the character.

In reply to swell. Denzel was great in Roman J Isreal. Maybe it is a lazy nom, akin to Meryl Streep every year, but it just so happens to be for a deserving performance.

Really rooting for GDT even if The Shape of Water doesn’t win best picture. I’m a little surprised to see it there in the Screenplay nod but I think that bodes well for the film’s chances.

Other than Florida Project getting punched in the nose (which, sadly, looked like it was coming as awards season drug on), not a ton of surprises. couple of little ones here and there. the laziness of the Denzel nom at least means we wont have to hear about the Franco allegations for the next month.
