Christmas origin stories are not all that uncommon. Just recently, Netflix found a hit with its “Klaus” film. Now, it appears the next one on the list is “A Boy Called Christmas.”
As seen in the trailer for the film, “A Boy Called Christmas” tells the story of Nicholas, a young kid that is on the hunt for magic in the world. And wouldn’t you know it? He stumbles onto the world of elves and reindeer, discovering the magic he was searching for while creating the beloved holiday of Christmas. But obviously, there’s an evil witch of some kind that wants to ruin all the fun. Isn’t there always?
The star-studded cast for the film includes Henry Lawfull, Toby Jones, Sally Hawkins, Kristen Wiig, Michiel Huisman, Zoe Colletti, Stephen Merchant, Jim Broadbent, and Maggie Smith. “A Boy Called Christmas” comes from filmmaker Gil Kenan. The director has quite the unique filmography with the horror remake “Poltergeist,” the YA fantasy film “City of Ember,” and his debut, the animated kids film, “Monster House.” He is also a co-writer of the upcoming “Ghostbusters: Afterlife.” So why not add a Christmas film in there, as well?
