'Amour' & 'Rust And Bone' Top London Critics' Circle Awards

nullWith the focus this weekend on Park City with the Sundance Film Festival now in full swing, it might be easy to forget we're still in the midst of the awards season. And even though we're nearing the finishing line, with the Golden Globes already handed out, and a few more major guild awards and the Indie Spirits to come before the Oscars are awarded, critics circles are still getting their two cents in. And the latest to hand down their verdict on the year in film of 2012 are from the U.K., with the London Critics' Circle Awards honoring their winners today. And a big favorite of the season made a considerable impression.

"Amour" walked away with Film Of Year, Best Actress for Emmanuelle Riva and Best Screenwriter for Michael Haneke, though Ang Lee scooped Best Director for "Life Of Pi." Jacques Audiard's "Rust And Bone" took Foreign Language Film, while fans of Paul Thomas Anderson's "The Master" will be heartened to see both Philip Seymour Hoffman and Joaquin Phoenix taking acting awards, with the film landing in the final top ten of 2012 as well.

The organization also hands out awards in separate categories for British films as well, to help give them a little more shine and all told, it's hard to argue with any of these selections. Check it out below, and let us know your thoughts. [THR]
