Ruben Fleischer’s probably happy just to be able to have some degree of control over a film he’s working on at the moment after the farce that has developed around the much-discussed “Gangster Squad.” But some positive development on one of his producing projects is something for the “Zombieland” director to cling on to, with “Two Night Stand” lining up a pair of exciting young leads. Mark Hammer’s Black List script has Max Nichols attached to direct what will be his debut feature, and now the casting is in full swing with Miles Teller and Analeigh Tipton joining the project.
Teller looks like a really exciting young talent, having acted Kidman and Eckhart off the screen in John Cameron Mitchell’s misery-porn “Rabbit Hole,” and he’s also showed some outstanding comic chops in last year’s “Footloose” remake and to a lesser extent in “Project X.” Tipton meanwhile — a former figure skater and contestant on "America’s Next Top Model" — announced herself with a winning turn in “Crazy, Stupid, Love.” before popping up again as one of Whit Stillman’s eponymous “Damsels in Distress.”
The pair will play a pair of unlikely lovers who are trapped together in an apartment after a record-breaking blizzard forces them to extend a regrettable one-night stand. It sounds like a neat little idea to us (and one that can probably be made on the cheap) and we can’t wait to see the young actors — who seem perfectly matched to us – taking on an acclaimed script side by side. This is one of those pieces of casting news that really brings a smile to ones face – these could be the rom-com stars of tomorrow. [Variety]
