Anne Hathaway Might Tune Up 'Song One'

Anne HathawayWell in case you missed it, the first trailer for "Les Miserables" dropped this morning and if anything, it proved that no matter how scrappy the clothes or terrible the haircut, Anne Hathaway can carry a tune. And it looks like she's got another musical project brewing, though it's not a sure thing just yet.

Nevertheless, Variety reports that Hathaway is kicking the tires to produce and star in "Song One," a movie that will reconnect the actress with the "Rachel Getting Married" producing team of Marc Platt and Jonathan Demme, along with her fiancee Adam Shulman. Penned by Kate Barker-Froyland, who would also make her directorial debut on the project, the story will center on a woman who returns home after her brother is injured. Se becomes romantically involved with his favorite musician, who in turn draws inspiration from the siblings. We presume "inspiration" means "there will be singing" because if you put Hathaway in a movie with the word "song" in the title and then not have her sing, that just seems perverse.

But a whole bunch of boring stuff needs to happen for this "maybe" project to become a sure thing, so we'll see if it comes to fruition. But until then here's a fun fact: Barker-Froyland was David Frankel's assistant on "The Devil Wears Prada" which just goes to show there is no job that is too low on the totem pole, and a foot in the door can lead anywhere.
