'Avengers' Directors Talk Chris Evans' Future In The MCU & Say 'Endgame' Was Not The Original Title

**Spoilers for “Avengers: Endgame” below**

The Russo Brothers weren’t kidding when they said that the moratorium on spoilers for “Avengers: Endgame” was set to end this week. After keeping their mouths shut about specific plot points about the record-breaking film for over a year now, the directors are now ready to talk about their fourth MCU blockbuster. And particularly, they want to discuss a couple of myths surrounding the film.

Now, if you’ve seen ‘Endgame,’ you know how it ends for Chris Evans’ character Steve Rogers, aka Captain America. Though there were major deaths in the film, Cap was not among those that were killed in the fight against Thanos. In fact, Cap actually got his happy ending, as he was able to travel back in time and live out his life as the husband to Peggy Carter and get his dance that he had waited decades for.

But for many fans, especially those that are comic book fans, whenever you see a character alive at the end of a story, no matter how old, that character is ripe for a return. And in the comics, there has recently been a time where Steve Rogers was de-aged from an old man to retake the mantle of Captain America. However, this isn’t the comics and the Russos want everyone to know that we’ve likely seen the end of Steve Rogers in the MCU.

“Chris is a very emotional person,” said Joe Russo on a new episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast. “I feel like he has to close the door on things and emotionally move on to the next thing. I think, for now, he’s emotionally moved on.”

Anthony Russo chimed in and said, “There are no plans .”

Now, even with those comments, there will be fans that keep hope that Chris Evans will return as Cap down the line. Obviously, the Russos weren’t exactly shutting the door on the idea. That being said, it does appear that despite no use of the word “never,” the idea of Evans donning the red, white, and blue again does seem to be unlikely.

Another aspect of ‘Endgame’ that has been widely discussed over the last year is the title. The Russos and Marvel Studios kept the title of the film a secret until the first trailer revealed it. In the time between ‘Infinity War’ and the title reveal, fans had come up with a million different potential titles, including ‘Annihilation’ and ‘Infinity Gauntlet.’ The latter of which is a reference to the comic book storyline that influenced the films.

However, Marvel Studios said that ‘Endgame’ was the title all along, disputing rumors that the title was changed at the last minute. According to the directors, that isn’t necessarily the case, as ‘Endgame’ was originally titled something completely different.

“‘Infinity Gauntlet’ was the title for quite a long time, actually,” revealed Joe Russo.

Does that mean that Marvel Studios was lying about the ‘Endgame’ title? I mean, would it be the first time that Kevin Feige and Co. fibbed about something just to keep it a secret for a little while longer? At this point, it’s safe to assume that nothing is true until you’ve seen the film or waited until the film has been out in theaters long enough for the folks to actually spill the beans.

“Avengers: Endgame” is in theaters now, and luckily for fans, it looks like plenty of secrets are forthcoming.
