Bill Skarsgård arguably has his biggest role in twelve days when Robert Eggers‘ “Nosferatu” hits theaters. But what’s the actor up to afterward? Deadline reports that he’ll star in Gus Van Sant‘s hostage thriller “Dead Man’s Wire,” a project that also stars “Stranger Things” actor Dacre Montgomery.
Based on true events, Van Sant’s next film follows a former real estate developer who takes the mortgage banker who did him wrong hostage, and demands $5 million and a personal apology. Austin Kolodney pens the script, with “Mudbound” producer Cassian Elwes leading production. Elwes had this to say about “Dead Man’s Wire”: “It’s an absolute thrill to reunite with one of the greatest directors in the world and I can’t wait to work with the fantastic actors he’s assembling for this film.” Other producers on the project include Joel David Moore, Tom Culliver, Sam Pressman, Mark Amin, Remi and Noor Alfallah, Andrea Bucko, Matt Murphie, and Paul Paizes.
Then there’s the executive producer credits, an even longer list of names: Jon Gosier, Emily Salveson, Rishi Bajaj, Cami Winikoff, Michael Merlob, Divya Shahani, Jordan Claire Robbins, Robert MacLean, Svetlana Dali, Konstantin Elkin, Vlad Lapidus, Oliver Trevena, Lee Broda, Jeff Rice, John Pitts, Alan Helene, Nini Le Huynh, and Veronica Radaelli.
Beyond “Nosferatu,” Skarsgård also reprises his role as Pennywise the Clown in “IT: Welcome To Derry,” a series he also executive produces. He’ll also star in “Emperor” next year, as well as David Yarovesky‘s thriller “Locked.”
As for Montgomery, he has two horror movies coming up: Legendary‘s “Faces Of Death” remake from “How To Blow Up A Pipeline” director Daniel Goldhaber, and “Went Up The Hill” with Vicky Krieps.
“Dead Man’s Wire” will be Van Sant’s first film since 2018’s “He Won’t Get Far On Foot.” He’s also attached to direct Matt Damon and Ben Affleck‘s movie about the Hulk Hogan v. Gawker court case. Fans of him remember the three’s creative partnership spans decades, including “Good Will Hunting,” “Gerry,” and, with Damon, 2012’s “Promised Land.”
If “Dead Man’s Wire” starts shooting in the next month, expect it as a late arrival on the 2025 release calendar.
