WTF?! 'Bohemian Rhapsody' Sequel "Being Heavily Discussed" By Queen According To Band's Music Video Director

There are rumors that we want to desperately believe. There are rumors we hope are completely wrong. And then there are rumors that make us scratch our head and question everything we know about life. Page Six recently posted a rumor that is so strange, but also obvious, that we just couldn’t sit by and not share it with our readers.

According to an interview with a Queen music video director (and supposed close, personal friend to the band) Rudi Dolezal, the band is currently discussing ways to create a “Bohemian Rhapsody” sequel. Let that sink in for a second. A sequel to the film that followed the life, career, and DEATH of Freddie Mercury is currently being discussed. WTF?!

The director said a sequel to the massive box office success is now “being heavily discussed in the Queen family.” While we’re sadly not a fly on the wall of these discussions (let’s just hope they’re not going with a “Freddie Mercury: The Untold Tales”-style film), we do have an idea of where Dolezal thinks the sequel might be heading.

“I’m sure [Queen manager Jim Beach] plans a sequel that starts with Live Aid,” Dolezal said.

Oh boy, let’s hope this is wrong. Not only was Live Aid the bookending event of “Bohemian Rhapsody,” but almost the entire concert was shown on screen, recreated by Rami Malek and the rest of the cast. Are they thinking about showing the later years of Mercury, as he succumbed to the disease that took his life? Will they have his death scene accompanied by a rockin’ Queen soundtrack? These are all terrible ideas, by the way, but we’re struggling to think about any other possible route this film could take.

Look, we totally understand Beach and Queen’s interest in a sequel. “Bohemian Rhapsody” far, far exceeded even the craziest of expectations on its way to winning four Oscars and earning $870 million worldwide. But that doesn’t mean it needs a sequel. Yes, we’re talking about Hollywood and a rock band, both of which probably see dollar signs when the idea of a sequel is discussed.

Well, let’s just hope this rumor stays a rumor, okay?
