Bryce Dallas Howard All But Confirms 'Jurassic Park' Original Cast Will Appear In 'Jurassic World 3'

Nostalgia is king. People just eat that shit up, especially in modern film and TV. Would the new “Star Wars” trilogy be half as popular as it is today if not for the return of Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher? Most definitely not. And there are tons of other revivals, remakes, and sequels that are using the formula of bringing back an older cast member to shepherd in the new era. And in the case of the “Jurassic Park” sequel franchise, “Jurassic World,” it would appear that’s on the horizon.

Speaking to MTV News, “Jurassic World” star Bryce Dallas Howard all but confirms that the big three names from the original “Jurassic Park” will be making their return in the upcoming “Jurassic World 3.” The actress was asked if she looks forward to working with the “Jurassic Park” actors in the forthcoming sequel. (Tricky bit of questioning there, huh?)

“Yes, very much so,” said Howard. “I don’t know what’s been confirmed or whatever, but I’ll blink if it’s happening… maybe…”

Obviously, this is far from definitive proof that Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum are returning to the franchise. However, in the world of Hollywood blockbuster secrets, Howard’s words, combined with her not-so-great poker face, are about as much of a confirmation as we’ll likely get until the film’s premiere.

This news fits perfectly with what director Colin Trevorrow said about the third film in the “Jurassic Park” sequel franchise. Back almost a year ago, he strongly hinted that fans would be upset if they didn’t get the chance to see the main three make their triumphant return (Goldblum was briefly seen in the last film).

As for what will bring them all together to mingle with the new cast? That’s still unknown. But last year, Trevorrow also said that the idea that the dinosaurs would terrorize a city is unlikely, even though the final images from ‘Fallen Kingdom’ seemingly point to that sort of plot. Even with the name ‘Jurassic World,’ this new franchise has shied away from seeing the dinosaurs interact with the actual world. The first film focused on an island. The second film was set primarily in a mansion. If the third film doesn’t actually take place in the titular ‘World,’ then who the hell knows where they’re going?

One thing we do know is that “Jurassic World 3” is set to hit theaters on June 11, 2021.
