Got a Tip?

Clark Gregg Says ‘Trust Me’ To Sam Rockwell, William H. Macy, Amanda Peet, Allison Janney & More

Sam Rockwell,Since making his directorial debut with the Chuck Palahniuk adaptation “Choke” in 2008, Clark Gregg has appeared in some of the most successful films of the past four years. But now that his relationship with Marvel is seemingly at an end — provided the studio doesn’t just retcon his death in "The Avengers" — the character actor is gearing up to return behind the camera with “Trust Me.”

The film, which Gregg will both write and direct, is a dark comedy that will center on “a loser agent for a young actor – and washed-up child star himself – who stumbles upon a brilliant 13-year-old prodigy and then tries to close the mega-deal that will make her a star while managing her drunk volatile father.” Given how long Gregg has been kicking around the industry, it looks like he's going to be taking a little satirical stab at Hollywood. It also sounds like a riff of sorts on "A Star Is Born."

So far, Gregg has signed up a rather impressive ensemble that includes Amanda Peet, Paul Sparks, Felicity Huffman, Allison Janney, William H. Macy, Molly Shannon, Niecy Nash, Saxon Sharbino and Sam Rockwell. Right now there’s no date set for production, but with backing now coming together via Unified Pictures, Savage Bunny and Bron Studios, we imagine that it’ll be sooner rather than later. [Deadline]
