Got a Tip?

David Fincher’s ‘Dragon Tattoo’ Scheduled For December 21, 2011; Emily Browning, Sara Snook & Sophie Lowe Join List Of Females Vying For Part

We already know that David Fincher’s “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” was scheduled to hit December 2011 but now we have an exact date: December 21.

According to Deadline, a few more actresses have already entered the picture as the lead female including Emily Browning, Sara Snook (an upcoming 2011 TV version of “Sleeping Beauty“), Sophie Lowe and Rooney Mara (the sister of Kate Mara), but you already knew about the latter up and coming actress cause we reported it first (toldj– nope). Mara also has a part in Fincher’s upcoming “The Social Network,” so maybe she has a leg up from everyone though Variety has been saying what has been said from day one: Fincher may go with an unknown.

A recent report from The Wrap said Sony wants Fincher to direct all three books, and we already reported that he has an option to direct, “The Girl Who Played With Fire.” It’s really all up to him. Evidently Sony chief Amy Pascal said, the film may also be R-Rated. Duh, did you see the original Swedish film or read the books for that matter? It sure as hell should be R-rated and we can’t see Fincher wanting to do a sanitized version.

Written by Steve Zaillian (“Schindler’s List,” “American Gangster”), Daniel Craig has been in talks to play the lead for more than a month now, but apparently he hasn’t officially signed on yet (and Deadline has just updated their post and said there may be a conflict for him between, “Cowboys & Aliens” and the eventual “Bond 23“).

The aforementioned list of actresses joins an illustrious group of young, attractive and talented Hollywood A-list female talent that includes, or once included Carey Mulligan — who’s been loosely connected to the role for a while — plus Ellen Page, Mia Wasikowska, Natalie Portman, Keira Knightley, Anne Hathaway, Olivia Thirlby, Scarlett Johansson and South African Rapper Yo-Landi Vi$$er (Kristen Stewart is an example of one starlet no longer in the mix and everyone from stars to total unknowns have been in the running so far).

Don’t be surprised if a relative unknown is cast. Sony just did the same with Andrew Garfield in their “Spider-Man” 3D reboot and got him very cheap ($500,000 for the first film and then $1 mil and $2 mil for the following pictures if he stays on board; that’s peanuts money). He also starred in Fincher’s “The Social Network.” Apparently that picture impressed the hell out of everyone.
