'Dog' Trailer: Channing Tatum Finally Returns In A Canine Buddy Comedy He Co-Directed

Where has Channing Tatum been for six-odd years? Yep, the last time you saw Tatum in a live-action film was 2017’s “Kingsman: The Golden Circle” (though he does have a small “Free Guy” cameo). Marriage, children, divorce, it apparently takes its toll. In the interim, Tatum has basically only done animated voice work and hung out on Instagram. But now he’s back with his co-directorial debut, “Dog.” Directed with his producing partner Reid Carolin (they spent a few years seeing if they could direct Fox’s X-Men “Gambit” together to no avail), their debut effort is about a filthy animal unfit for human company… and a dog.

The film is mostly a two-hander but also stars Q’orianka Kilcher, Channing Tatum, and Jane Adams. Here’s the official synopsis:

DOG is a buddy comedy that follows the misadventures of two former Army Rangers paired against their will on the road trip of a lifetime. Army Ranger Briggs (Channing Tatum) and Lulu (a Belgian Malinois dog) buckle into a 1984 Ford Bronco and race down the Pacific Coast in hopes of making it to a fellow soldier’s funeral on time. Along the way, they’ll drive each other completely crazy, break a small handful of laws, narrowly evade death, and learn to let down their guards in order to have a fighting chance of finding happiness.

“Dog” was essentially finished last year but got delayed because of the pandemic. Now MGM will release the movie theaters on February 18, 2022. Watch the first trailer below.
