Ellen Page Thinks Chris Pratt Should Explain Supporting An "Infamously Anti-LGBTQ" Church

Ellen Page has never been accused of being shy about her beliefs. The actress, that is probably best known for her roles in “Juno” and the ‘X-Men’ franchise, is very outspoken for the issues that she holds near and dear to her heart. And that means if she sees someone out there saying/doing something she doesn’t agree with, she’ll call that person out. Even if that person is one of the biggest stars in Hollywood and adored by millions of fans. Long story short, Ellen Page gives absolutely no fucks.

Sorry, Chris Pratt, but you’re the newest person put in Page’s crosshairs. The beloved actor, who is best known for his roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as well as “Jurassic World,” is also someone that is very outspoken about his personal life, whether it’s his love of fishing and hunting or his devotion to his religion. And in a new interview with Stephen Colbert, Pratt once again opened up about his faith, which caught the eye of Page.

You see, according to Page’s tweet, Colbert shouldn’t have just asked about his farm life or his devotion. Instead, Page said, “Oh. K. Um. But his church is infamously anti lgbtq so maybe address that too?”

The church in question is Hillsong. And in a blog post from 2015, the pastor of the church specifically answered the question about whether or not they accept gay people as part of their congregation and leadership.

“Hillsong Church welcomes ALL people but does not affirm all lifestyles,” wrote Pastor Brian Houston. “Put clearly, we do not affirm a gay lifestyle and because of this we do not knowingly have actively gay people in positions of leadership, either paid or unpaid. I recognise this one statement alone is upsetting to people on both sides of this discussion, which points to the complexity of the issue for churches all over the world.”

So, basically, no matter if you’re the biggest star on the planet or not, Ellen Page wants to know why you support a church with clear anti-LGBTQ statements like that. And sure, by all accounts, Pratt is a nice guy and a funny actor. So, it’ll be interesting to see if/how he responds to the actress’ tweet.
